Zvažuje se několik možných variant, zatím podle starosty Nového Města Michala Šmardy vypadá nejpravděpodobněji trasa z Nového Města přes Radňovice a Lhotku do Žďáru s tím, že by se současně využily i polní cesty a vykoupily další potřebné pozemky. Plánovaná cyklostezka však nesmí kolidovat se zájmy zemědělců a ani narušit některá chráněná přírodní území mezi Lhotkou a Žďárem nad Sázavou. „Byl bych rád, kdyby se podařilo všechno zvládnout tak, aby se za dva až tři roky mohla cyklostezka začít stavět,“ uvedl starosta Michal Šmarda.
