Městu Žďáru nad Sázavou se podařilo získat významnou dotaci na připravený projekt rekonstrukce náměstí Republiky. Kašna bude mít podobu kamenné mísy s motivem pěti pramenů řeky Sázavy. Ve středu mísy bude umístěno 5 trysek, které budou tryskat do výšky a dopadat na vodní hladinu. Vodní prameny z trysek budou mít nastavitelnou intenzitu a budou umožňovat různé režimy. Prameny budou ve večerních hodinách nasvíceny.

Dalším novým zajímavým prvkem bude časová osa města umístěná mezi morovým sloupem a starou radnicí. Půjde o linii šesti bronzových desek zapuštěných do dlažby. Díky rekonstrukci by mělo náměstí v budoucnu splňovat požadavky na centrální plochu s estetickou funkcí města, i nadále splňovat funkci shromažďovací, obchodní, kulturní a být aktivním centrem města, poskytující obyvatelům atraktivní prostředí pro jejich život.
